A group of people gathered in a pottery studio, listening to a woman in a red shirt explain something as she works on clay pottery. Others are seated around a long table, some holding pottery tools or cups, with shelves filled with ceramics and supplies behind them.

Ruang Awam

In the spirit of how we were established, we provide free space for programs and events by the public.

Limited financial support is available for social projects that align with our values and mission.

What do you mean?

I mean if you need space to have a meeting, play music with friends, organise a movie screening etc, we can let you use our space for free.

Priority is given to nonprofit activities that benefit the public.

What problem does this solve?

Kuala Lumpur is an incredibly concrete and lethargic city. Smaller housing, difficulty to commute, and shrinking public spaces is breaking up our society. The Coop offers a large space as a public good. So it’s not just about solving problems, but we are creating the conditions to let good stuff happen!

Why you do this?

Friends Craft Coop started as a free skillshare in a private studio. Since then, we now rent our own place funded by our members. And while we now house over 100 crafters with better and larger service and facilities, sometimes we think about the old times where we got our start.

I think of the Coop as an attempt to build the world I wish we lived in. And so we are offering what we needed 3 years ago: Free Space !
