20 × 20 × 20cm

Think Inside The Box encourages artists and craft practicioners to concentrate their ideas and techniques through a piece that fits a 20 × 20 × 20cm box. We are accepting 48 works.

This is an invitation to play, to refine, and to crystalise a work that you are proud of through a small and manageable project.

Collect works that you love without worrying about space. Begin learning about collecting art an affordable price point. Support and build a relationship with an artist through Think Inside The Box.

How it works

  • Submit your application by 21st April. The work does not need to be completed during submission.

  • We will notify you by 25th of April. Leaving 1 month to create your work.

  • Deliver your item to the Coop by 21st May 2026.

  • Exhibition period is 23rd May - 31st May.

  • 4 best works will be located on dedicated stands.

  • Works sold will be displayed for the full exhibition time.

  • All works must be shipped or picked up by 7th June 2026.

What we provide

  • 16 × 10ft micro gallery space in our PJ studio.

  • Custom designed and built shelving to display your work.

  • Gallery lighting.

  • Each artist will have a thoughtfully printed 8 × 8 in artist profile on the room walls.

  • We have committed funds towards marketing the exhibition.

  • The Coop will provide an opt-in packing, boxing, and mailing service (RM20) to buyers. Else, they can pick up for free.

Acceptable Works

  • Each artist may submit a maximum of 5 objects for review. Only a maximum of 3 objects will be accepted per artist.

  • Object may be made of any medium. Although most will be clay.

  • Size limit is 8 x 8 x 8 inch, so that your work will fit into a 8 inch large cube.

  • Each object must be for sale.

  • Retail price should be RM50, RM100, RM250, or RM500

Our application form asks for the following

  • Personal contact information

  • 100 word artist profile (this will be displayed prominently)

  • 100 word description of your project

  • Website/Social Media (If available)

  • Photos of your prior work.

Terms and Conditions

Right to Refusal

Precision is key when measuring your works - each piece MUST be 8 × 8 × 8 inch (20cm) or smaller in order to fit into the display cube. If we accept your piece and it does not fit into the cube it will not be a part of the exhibition.

FRIENDS Craft Coop reserves the right not to display any works that does not adhere to the size constraints, or does not reflect what was described in the application.

Works with glaze flaws, structural issues, sharp edges, etc… May not be displayed at the discretion of the Coop.


Fees

This exhibition is free of charge to artists and the public. Friends Craft Coop is a nonprofit that improves social welfare through craft. The costs and organisation is fully borne by the Friends Craft Coop and it’s supporters.


Pricing must be one of the following: RM50, RM100, or RM300. This is a unique format to encourage comparisons of works. Please make your works to the level of detail you expect for each price point. The price excludes packing and shipping fees (optional for buyers).

Pricing


Please deliver your items by hand to the Coop during our operating hours. You must deliver items by 21st May 2026. If you must deliver by mail, please ensure it is well packaged and will arrive at the Coop by 21st May 2026. The Coop is not liable for any breakages during your mailing process.

Drop off procedures


Upon sale, buyers may not take home items until the end of the exhibition period. Buyers will be provided an option for the Coop to handle the packaging, boxing, and nationwide postage by PosLaju at a flat fee of RM20. Sold works will be mailed by 7th of June 2026.

Else, buyers must pick up their item from the Coop by the 7th of June.

Unsold works must be picked up by the artist by the 7th of June 2026.
